Motivation! or… Lack Therof

Hellooooo, beautiful people.

I was supposed to (in my own personal schedule in my head) have this posted Monday evening. But sometimes… life happens and I wasn’t able to. I’m here now though! With my glass of red wine and my brain full of things to spew out at you. In a delicate way. On to the topic of this post!


How daunting…

Today is Wednesday. Halfway through the week. I’m sick-ish. I’m cramping. I have a million things to do. And guess what I want to do? None of it. I’d rather be laying on a beach, reading a book, while being fed chocolate-covered strawberries by the boatload. But ain’t no body got time for that.

Whenever I start to really feel lackadaisical I do a few things to try and get my fire going.

  1. I’ll watch a video of some really fit person working out. (Don’t let it make you feel like shit about yourself, let it make you feel like you are ready to conquer that barbell)

  2. I’ll get on my group chat with some of my best friends and actually tell them to tell me to get my ass up. They always do and it always works.

  3. If I truly don’t want to get up, I’ll read a self-motivation book. These author’s truly don’t mess around. (One of my favorites is The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson)

  4. I’ll listen to a podcast. My current favorite is The Influencer Podcast with Julie Solomon. Her experience and advice is top-notch, people.

  5. I will make a to-do list. Pretty simple. But once you see everything you need to get done written down in front of you. It’s pretty big motivation to… you know… get it done.

  6. I listen to upbeat music. Basic, I know. But listening to your favorite tunes and dancing around a bit should up your mood in no time.

  7. Similar to number 5, but writing things down in my planner is huge for me. I’m the type of gal who prefers keeping her schedule separate from her phone. My phone holds so much distraction that I know I couldn’t keep things straight if everything I had to do were in my phone as well. This motivates me by telling me what I need to do and when it needs to be done by. Seeing a deadline can really get you off your seat.

  8. Sometimes, I’ll go into my bathroom and put on a full face of make-up. Because it makes me feel good to look good and then I won’t want to waste that make-up on nothing. I’m going to get up, get dressed, and get shit done like a true boss ass bitch.

  9. I’ll call a friend or my mom and tell them that I feel like a piece of crap and they will remind me that I’m not a piece of crap but that I’m a strong, resilient, independent woman who needs to get off her ass and get moving because nobody is going to do it for me.

These are my main go-to’s for boosting my motivation. Maybe they are similar to yours or maybe this will help you! I’m hoping it will help boost your motivation. Being a personal trainer, something talked about in my books is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation can only take you so far because it is reliant on others’. To be truly motivated you have to find a way to do it for yourself. Intrinsically.

Today/tonight, my #everylittlebit that I love about myself is my resilience! Life knocks me down quite often, as it does with many other people, but I always find a reason to get back up and I do it with all of me. What’s your #everylittlebit?
